You laugh

It’s a little thing, but you made that smile for me 

and for now I am glad

to sit here and endure this boredom

Because you’re here too

and I’ve never felt anything like this before

Looking in the mirror, I am awakening. Have I always needed so much makeup to conceal my eye bags? I am in a haze, and I am off to work, and it is too early in the morning.

I hardly knew her at all, wasn’t expected to. She was just a kid at the High like anyone else, who had no car. She was sitting stubbornly on a bench, determined to get a ride.

Maybe it’s funny but every time I try to write about you, the words die in my throat.  Is it that I know too much?  Or too little?

When I opened my eyes
I saw that my body was no longer mine
but the body of a stream
I was strong
Strong enough to carve rocks
to shape stone
Yet you couldn't hold me in your hands
for I would seep through your fingers
