Maybe it’s funny but every time I try to write about you, the words die in my throat. Is it that I know too much? Or too little?

When I opened my eyes
I saw that my body was no longer mine
but the body of a stream
I was strong
Strong enough to carve rocks
to shape stone
Yet you couldn't hold me in your hands
for I would seep through your fingers

Do your clothes still smell like apples and spices?

Waking up to you
grinning down at me
your long, golden hair falling off your shoulders,
I close my eyes
block out your face with my hand

They’re everywhere:
Stories of growing up and getting old
And time slipping through a child’s fingers
Like sand at the beaches of your memories.

Firefly
His eyes reminded me of the stars,
so deep I swear I could see his heart.
He was full of light,
I was still trying to fight
the battle going on in my soul.

The Ocean
I’m at the ocean again,
and I feel at home again.
The salt breeze always reminds me of seaweed,
green string stitched into blue silk,
brown tangles piled on the rocks' edge.
