I open the gates

And take a trip down memory lane

Everything’s changed since then

My childhood is gone but not forgotten

I remember riding my bike on the driveway

We were once inseparable

Until oceans came between us

You were the sun

I looked up to you

As you would shine your light on me

The slivers of false hope I held onto

You were once the light in my life

Now you’re a black hole

Don’t tell someone you’re fine 

When you know it’s all a lie 

Don’t be afraid to tell them the truth 

When they make you cry 

It’s okay to be upset 

It's been three years now 
Yet we've traveled thousands of miles along this road together 
We're two travelers on one path 
Not even the journey through cancer could separate us 

I’m a star

I’ll travel millions of miles

Just to see you

Just to give you a little light

A little hope in this hopeless world

One day

I’ll be an asteroid

And I’ll fall from the sky
