I woke up,

I got ready for the day,

I looked in the mirror and everything changed...

That day was when I really woke up, the day I noticed the mask I try to hide behind every day.

I grew up in a world that taught me I should be "Ladylike"

My grandparents tell me "Well that's not very ladylike."

My parents say, "Why do you act like that."

What is ladylike?

It melts as soon as it touches the palm of your hand.

You watch it fall down from the sky as if it is the first time you have ever seen it.

It brings back memories from when you were little.

I was born into a big family.

I have a lot of cousins, aunts, and uncles

We all live close to each other, same state, same town.

But

What is family?

They call me different because of the way I look, act, learn

But they say it like it's a bad thing

I am different. I am. But I am not embarrassed by it, I am not ashamed.
