If you like historical fiction books, there's this one that has a little bit of fantasy mixed in and its incredible. Its called These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong, set in 1920s Shanghai. It's a duology series but if you like longer serieses, there's a duology sequel series and two short novellas also. It's incredibly good and there's a bit of mystery as well, not much but a hint.

Have you read any of Tamora Pierce’s books? She writes historical/fantasy.
