If you’re looking for something that portrays mental health disorders and addiction very accurately, then I would recommend Chaos Theory, by Nic Stone. One of the main characters struggles with alcoholism and PTSD, while the other struggles with bipolar disorder, among other things. It’s very well written and the depiction of mental health is very well done. It is pretty emotionally heavy, though, so be careful as you read it.
Yeah, I definitely think it's a good representation of what untreated mental health disorders can lead to, but also the pain of mental health issues is so difficult to write well. I was also disappointed in the ending; it felt like too much of a stretch, and that the author was taking a shortcut. However, I did think it was an interesting genre. Do you have any books that you enjoyed?
