Hi everyone! What are the rules on phones in your schools like? I live in Texas, and the phone ban is taken really seriously here; teachers can lose their teaching license just for not taking a student's phone if they were using it. They even banned smart glasses here (along with AirPods, any electronic watch, computers brought from home, computer mice, iPads, etc.). Are your schools getting stricter with phone policies too?

I am in Oregon, and here, we have a ban on all electronics that are from home. I am surprised that here, people are handling the rule well. People can take their phones out after school ends, so getting out of the school is both crowded and screen filled.
Yeah, that's exactly what it's like at my school too. Except that people aren't handling it well lol
we're not allowed phones in school here in Vermont and never have been as far as I can remember, but things like apple watches are less restricted. as soon as the announcements come on at the end of the day though, you're allowed to take your phone out of your bag, so there's been a lot of near collisions in the hallways as everyone leaves school with their phones an inch from their faces
At my school in Utah, there was a lot of leniency at the beginning of the school year, with teachers being able to give permission for students to use phones during class, but after first term they really started cracking down on phone use. Some teachers still don’t care if you have it out in class, and you are allowed to have them during lunch, but if you’re caught in the hallway with a phone during class time, you’re in big trouble.
We're not as strict about phones in Vermont - the administration doesn't want kids to bring in their phones (or at least keep them in their backpacks), computer mice are fine, electronic watches and AirPods are treated in the same manner as phones, and we don't really have smart glasses here. The teachers don't necessarily notice the watches - if they do, they ask you to put it in your backpack or they take it away, it depends on the teacher and the student.
We aren’t allowed to have phones, but some teachers allow them sometimes. I have an Apple Watch and a MacBook and I’ve had no issue with either, and people will use their phones during free blocks and usually don’t get in trouble so I’d say it’s relatively lenient, but they’re really cracking down now so I don’t know in the future. This is the second year my highschool has had a phone ban but my middle school was pretty strict.
My school has Yondr pouches where we lock up our phones and only a teacher can unlock them. We also aren't supposed to have earbuds but some teachers are ok with it and only seniors can bring their own computers. I don't like the earbuds and computer thing but the phone thing is ok I guess
