Civility

Since when did the world mock me?

When was the moment that I walked down the street to a threat of being paved?

A threat on the path I have walked my whole life?

When did these red and blue pill pushers start to prescribe medications never sought?

Why should I be drugged to convict my truth?

I know that my vote counts,

So why are you concerned with mine when yours does too?

When did this become a game where my head is the prize?

My body the steak?

My money a liability?

Why should I be forced to bite someone else's food?

Can't we just eat at the same table?

Why can't we share; and why is it so bad to lose?

I think what I think, so why should I want what you want?

Be clear in this:

You have not changed me,

But instead polarized a nation.

You have enraged us,

And that is what wins in the end.

Every story I've ever been told has held a spot in my life,

The goodest of hero's and foulest of foes did share with me the night.

I feel sometimes I'm split in two,

    And whispered to the moon,

About the days that haunted her,

And those that would come soon.

    She wanted to apologize,

    For wishing on the stars,
