They show me their phones, little boxes with even tinier little boxes that you press on and it fills up the big box. My girl taps one of the tiny boxes, it's purple and white and orange and she calls it in-sta-gram.
My hand lingers on the door frame, atoms of space between my fingertips and the shiny wood. My eyes skim the room from side to side, window to window. It’s small but it feels big at the same time.
My fingers tremble as I take slow step after slow step toward the end of the Polaris hallway.
Walking towards the community building, I find myself growing nervous. I see the signs for the support groups, one for each species. As I get closer I see them, the humans.

A young woman sits in a coffee shop in London, England, with her back straight, her head pointed forward, and her eyes wandering into the rainbow mists of Wonderland.
“I will!” I said angrily. “No, you won’t!” He teased. I stormed away. Then, I came back and jumped. I was a stubborn child. And a determined one. I started to scream. Partly in fear, party because OMIGOSH I’M SKYDIVING!!!
June 8th 11:30 am- 6 days
I have 6 days. Nothing more, nothing less, and that should scare me, make me anxious, something, but it doesn’t. I have a plan.
