An Idea

It is started by a piece of paper

written in blue pen ink

smeared as it is folded twice

passed to a friend.

Purple marker replies to blue pen

folded up the same way as before;

smearing the wet ink as it is folded twice

then passed to another.

It continues down the line of

people,

bored out of their minds

not wishing to be there but silently waiting for the end.

The message continues to grow

until another page is added

and another

and another.

It is a story now,

a short novel written while waiting for the lecture to

end.

The End

is added in mechanical pencil

at the bottom

of the back

of the fifth page.

Now it is passed back to the first person,

names written on the cover

until it looks like colorful graffiti.

The handwritten story goes missing for a day

only to be found sitting peacefully on a shelf in the library.

A story starts small

an idea

and evolves

grows

into something that can be shaped

modeled

into something that can inspire change

and turn into

an idea.

  • Get up

I'm watching you lie there, dejected, miserable at your idea of a failure. But it's not a failure if you got impressively high up on the leaderboard, if you got so close to winning but didn't.

  • Promise

I stopped here. I ceased my walking and stood here, for as long as I needed to be until they came. I wait for them. They haven't come yet.
