What happened to my childhood?

Where did it all go?

I swear it was right there...

All my self-confidence, my imagination, my courage, my creativity...

But it all just disappeared...

I sit on my front lawn and watch as the sky starts to fall.

I knew it was going to happen.

We all did.

I sit on the lawn in silence.

The sky crashing down.

It shatters into a million pieces.

the divine tranquillity of the vast ocean

the sounds of the waves, crashing into one another

it's peaceful, it soothes the racing thoughts in my mind

it stops time for a split second

Although I’d likely consider myself shy and coy, 

Occasionally withdrawn from the crowd, 

There are many facets of an observer.

For one,

The ultimate observer can detect feigned emotion,

last week  

she reached out  

brushing my cheek  

with her soft steady touch  

her whispers filled the air  

gentle

i hear it now.

not a whisper

nor a shout

i hear it now.

the future

a call

distant

melancholy?

i can’t help

but wonder

how much am I leaving behind?
