We the People Sing
We the people sing,
We don’t want to have a king.
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
Acceptance for every adult and child.
All the people rise,
We cry our anger to the skies.
We the people proclaim,
-
Life, Freedom, Joy
For every woman being raped.
For every trans made illegal.
For every Native forced out of their home.
For every black person called “lesser.”

Gaea and Her Children
As I sit in the grass a sense of magic overcomes me. The mother of all, Gaea, is here.
I can’t see her, but I feel her presence everywhere. She is crying, sobbing, mourning her lost children, the trees, the birds, the bears, the flowers.

We are the People
We are the people.
The girl who wears every scar like a trophy.
The boy who struggles with reading.
The kid who protests for their rights.
The mother who works 3 jobs to pay the bills.

I have something to say
No, you don’t.
But I do though.
I have something to say about real issues and you say that I don’t.
While you all are just spitting what others want to hear.

A few Julys ago
Remember the girl?
She’s in second grade,
Maybe
Blond brown curls
Blue green eyes.
She’s sitting on the top metal pole of the fence
Chipped green paint

Enough
Constantly
all the time
I feel like crying
I've just had enough
enough of the girls accidentally hitting us with balls in P.E. class without them apologizing
enough of depressing experiences and losses;

Missing
I didn't even realize how old she was
and she's not even my cat
and I didn't know her all that well
but I'm still crying
because she's not going to be there anymore

Is This the Future?
No matter how far I run
how loud I scream
how hard I try
I'm never fast enough
never loud enough
never good enough.
Because even if I am,
I'm not.
