I pepper myself with questions
Questions that bubble up and spill over
Out into the wide world
And I stop to admire time
I pause in my tracks
Tracks that have gone a long way
And within this pause

Staring through eyes of stone at the republic

one nation like a burning stick
a stick that is almost snuffed out

One foot in front of the other
Pursuing the search for my goal

The rain pummeling the dirt
The wind whisking the hair out of my face

Bigger Windows
Collect the raindrops left scattered on the ground, cut the dying trees before they die. Live with your hands until you die in your mind.

Do the penguins care
about the one with orange beaks, an extra stripe?
Do the giraffes mind
