the east is enveloped in blue dark

the plane that carries you

diving into the abyss 

while the west appears to be engulfed in flames

a simple view from the deck

of a slow moving boat 

Feet in thick socks 

Shuffle through the halls 

And across the kitchen floor 

Hands reach into cupboards 

Rearranging and putting away

Mugs 

And plates

it was barely audible 

yet soft and sure 

in the heat of the moment. 

what? 

I ask 

even though I know what you said. 

I know the weight 

tall

and ghostly pale

as if he were drenched in sheer silk 

was what I saw when he left the room, 

leaving behind footprints of moonlight in the halls. 

cool as a winter breeze

The milky twilight 

Soft and still

Drenches me in feeling. 

My eyes illuminate, 

Reflecting the light of a million stars

Each one a place I’ll never know. 

I was so quiet then, 

standing all alone against the concrete wall 

in ill fitting jeans 

with an awkward bob made of my soft blonde hair.
