grapefruit spindrift
There's a grapefruit spindrift on the kitchen island where I’m sitting. The digital clock at the top of my Mac Book Air screen reads 9:16 PM.

Contained
I’m still stuck in the same grade, with the same people, doing the same thing. I’m ready to expand like steam filling a room, like water gushing from a spigot and into a basin. I’m ready to float, or maybe sink.

sticky with the scent of blooming jasmine
and freshly cut grass that crunches beneath bare feet
the sky drips blue
stretching wider every afternoon

A toast to dreams

But perhaps I do not.
Because some days I wish for a future where I am always busy, in a city that sleeps even less than I do.

Why does the world pretend to act like nothing bad is happening?
Why does the government, meant to safeguard the people, suddenly make this a monarchy?
I find it stupid that some people think that this is all fine and dandy.
