You capture something really interesting about monarchy here! While there is a lot of negative things to say about social convention, it does provide people with a script! And having a script can help keep the peace!
Exquisite! "I woke up when the lights dimmed for the/ benediction./ our chaplain' s favorite poem was wild geese by mary oliver." so much said and unsaid in these lines!
"Words flowed/ out of my mouth like gasoline at the pump..." This is brilliant and very relatable! Sometimes when I'm walking down the road I wonder what it would be like to suddenly leap into a neighbors yard --- move through the squares instead of only along the lines.
"Riding horses to race dusk" Love the subtle alliteration "Stone city in heaven" love the juxtaposition! Gorgeous poem packed full of exhilarating imagery!
