I'll try this! I am a big multitasker and sometimes I rewatch TV shows, but audio books are a way better idea because they're less distracting! And I definitely know some so well I could describe the entire plot by heart lol
My solution for it is to listen to an audio book that I know really well while I try to write. It's the only way I can get any writing done. This only works for some people, but if you have ADHD or difficulty focusing you should try it.
But honestly, writing something that you think is "bad" is often better than not writing at all. Most of the time, others will disagree, and even if you don't love it, it can help to just put words on a page. I feel like a hypocrite for saying not to give up on your stories/story ideas, since I've been so sparse writing my own book, but it's true! And don't be afraid to switch things up if you're not super attached to your novel. Write about things that're important to YOU! It's helped me through my messy plot by having characters that I can relate to and write freely about.
I'm so glad I could help! I listen to the book Mellisa by Alex Gino. What book can you describe by heart?
