Dear Anna,
Lilly is a weird human being
In a world filled with fake smiles and greetings
Her genuine smile seems out of place
Otherworlder: I sit and I watch them go along with their animals, or pets as they call them. They love these animals that they have tamed, walk them around, caress or "pet" them, feed them, sometimes even buy them lavish gifts.
They show me their phones, little boxes with even tinier little boxes that you press on and it fills up the big box. My girl taps one of the tiny boxes, it's purple and white and orange and she calls it in-sta-gram.
Walking towards the community building, I find myself growing nervous. I see the signs for the support groups, one for each species. As I get closer I see them, the humans.
We knew
they existed
before they knew how to stand and walk and breathe.
We sowed
the seeds
of evolution on this bluish-green marble
floating
in this tiny little galaxy they've named candy bars after.
Human- “What is this crazy alien, with one eye and an antennae? I don’t want them here. This is my home.”
They say that we are not alone in this world.
And this might be true,
but they also say that the Earth is flat.
I'd say it's all gibberish.
but 'truth' in itself is a common misconception.
