Recently I've been in a really bad writer's block, but things that I don't know much about or are important to me are often common themes in my poetry.
I tend to write quickly, think a minute or two. Ideas usually stew in my head for a long time before I think they're ready, so once I actually start typing them up, they flow pretty seamlessly.
My process is longer books is to print out the manuscript on paper, then read through it without editing anything, and noting what passages you want to keep, change, and cut. That should give you a pretty good jumping-off point for a second draft.
The idea that most commonly comes out in my writing is getting old. I feel the constant need to justify and understand the passage of time, and I often find myself grieving past moments, even if on the surface, nothing has changed on the surface.
