I am speechless. Those last three lines have rendered me blind with pain and anger, yet I'd now like to go out and become a conservationist. Thank you for writing this inspirational and beautiful poem.

Wow. I've lived in VT my whole life, but visiting cities with my family, I think I'd like to live there, but not forever. I love VT because nature surrounds me and envelops me, but I can't choke on it, and I think that's why you like it too. This is such a great poem and story!

This is a completely true story. When I was in 5th grade my dog died. I got the news that she was being put down around the exact same time I found out my friend was moving. I still keep in touch with my friend. But I got Covid just as their family moved, and during one of my favorite holidays. Thank you for reading this,
