I'm From the Land of Smiles

I'm From the Land of Smiles

I'm from the Land of Smiles, the beautiful country with temples and palaces where monks and royalty live. I'm from a mind of great creativity and words, and a mind of artistry and language. I'm from a household of hurt and love-filled words. I'm from a place of great exhaustion and mental illness. That's where I'm from, it's what makes me who I am. I'm from a nation that is constantly divided, a nation that was great in my eyes once, but is now no longer. I'm from a nation that threw daggers into my heart, expecting me to take their words and their hate, never wanting me to remember every one of their words. But I did. I’m from a place of great hatred towards my heritage, my blood, my colour, my language, history, art — everything. I'm from a nation that wants me to crumble to dust and to never appear on these lands again, but this was my land first. I'm from a nation that takes pride in wanting our land back, that takes pride in our history, our culture, our beliefs, our language. I'm from a nation that loves their people, that does everything for their people. No matter what I do, where I go, I'll always be from the Land of Smiles. This is where I'm from.
